Every month make new Google SERP reports just for customers to utilize to further enhance their sites. In my most recent report looked at the top 10 most used Google SERP terms in February 2018 and the top 10 most used Google SERP terms in October 2017. The goal of this article is to make someone who is not familiar with SERPs understand the concept behind how to pull information from Google. This is not intended to be a how-to guide but a short explanation about the way Google works with SERPs.
Let’s go over what exactly is a SERP and how is it different from a website or even a tagline? Simply put a SEO or Search Engine Optimization term is what you see on the right hand side of search engine results. Every time someone is searching on google, they are more likely to see those words or phrases than someone who is using a generic search like “funny lines”.
Now that you have an understanding of what a Google SERP is, let’s talk a little bit more about how to best utilize it. When someone is searching on google they will see many results. Some people will click on some listings and some people will choose to scroll through the list until they find the information they are looking for. There are two main ways to maximize the effectiveness of a Google SERP.

For example, if someone is searching for “dog collars” then you want your landing page to list all of your products or services related to dog collars. But instead of listing everything, list the main keywords or key phrases. This is the primary data that Google will use to determine where your website should rank. In order to do this you need to access the Google tools section and find the most popular keywords in use on google every month. By monitoring the frequency with which these terms are being updated you can build your website around these terms. Using the keywords that are listed on the free website update tool will help you build your website around these terms. Although this may not give you the greatest SEO benefit. But it is certainly worth a look.
